Alarming Number Of Educators May Soon Leave The Profession. Will You?

published on 16 November 2022

A study conducted by the NEA revealed that a staggering 55 percent of educators are thinking about leaving the profession earlier than they had planned.  Compare that to the data taken 6 months earlier in August 2021 (37 percent), and you can’t deny this is a noteworthy jump. This is true for educators regardless of age or years teaching, driving buses, or serving meals to students.

“The BLS Job Openings and Labor Turnover survey that the ratio of hires to job openings in the education sector reached new lows as the 2021-22 school year started. It currently stands at 0.59 hires for every open position, a large decrease from 1.54 in 2010 and 1.06 in 2016.”

Are you or an educator friend, family member or colleague considering leaving teaching?
